The 2019 Walter Scott Houseton Award was presented to Richard Tresch Fienberg

award
that was presented at Stellafane on Saturday, August 3, 2019.
WALTER SCOTT HOUSTON AWARD of the North East Region of the
Astronomical League (NERAL)
Dr. Rick Fienberg, Press Officer for the AAS, has spent many years enlightening us,
and educating the public.
He has done research on the aurora borealis, asteroids, planetary nebulae, active galaxies, and the center of the Milky Way.
The asteroid 9983 Rickfienberg was named in his honor.
Is the Co-creator of the Galileoscope educational telescope kit, a cornerstone project of the 2009 International Year of Astronomy,
and the 2015 International Year of Light.
Rick is an elected fellow of the AAAS, and serves as President of the IAU Commission C2.
For 8 years was Editor in Chief at Sky and Telescope magazine.
He continues to make contributions to other publications.
In 2018, NASA awarded Dr. Fienberg the Exceptional Public Achievement Medal for his tireless efforts in the public's safe solar viewing of the 2017 Great American Eclipse.
